I asked my Aunt Ruthie (my father's younger sister) to write something about the family because she's always telling me outrageous snippets of Margolis history. Like how her father, a rabbi, was assigned to his first congregation in Stockton California near the turn of the century and that's where he learned to dress and gamble, among other things. And how his winnings from the ongoing pinochle game that he ran, helped put her through Wellesley. She sent this along:

Dear Jonny, What can I tell you about my parents? I asked Asher and he couldn't think of a thing, so here goes: I remember as a kid always asking my Mom and Dad how and when
they met and what transpired during their courtship. Apparently, it was at a Zionist
convention, probably the first in the USA, that was held summer of 1907. The
convention took place at the Fairmont Hotel. Love you,
