| Kenny London was the funny guy and the rest of
the young dudes were musicians. They may have been attending the Art Institute. Higher
education always confuses me. Mark Leggett and Mark Hart lived on McGee Street in the
heart of the action. Bill Bergman moved around. London lived with the Dry Jack Band in
Parkville, Missouri, north across the river. In about 1979 Dry Jack moved east to New York
and the Young Dudes moved west to LA. One at a time I guess.
Mark and Dr Kelly Hart at a&m studios 1986
Hart made the first splash by landing a gig with
the Hudson Brothers. Awesome. Leggett became the king of casuals and the sound of many
studio recordings where he played the whole band as far as I can tell. Bergman dabbled in
jazz and then his jamming Monday night horn band suddenly became Jack Mack and the Heart
Attack. They've all prospered. Hart toured with Crowded House (they're back), Supertramp,
and Ringo Starr. Leggett has become the king of TV Cop Show themes(many emmy
nominations) and now is the musicsmith of NBC's My Name Is Earl, Berg has recorded on
hundreds of albums and has a production thing going on. Kenny London writes for everything
you can think of when he's not cobbling. |
